Our winemakers, Geoff Johnston and David O’Leary recognised the grape growing potential of the Oakbank area about two decades ago. Both had winemaking backgrounds from other regions, but they shared a special passion for premium cool climate wines, and it was their encouragement that led to the establishment of the Johnston Adelaide Hills vineyards. |

SUMMARY The origins of this business, owned by the Johnston Group, date back to 1839, making it the oldest known family-owned business in South Australia. The vineyard at Oakbank is substantial, with 7 ha each of sauvignon blanc and pinot noir, 6 ha of shiraz, 5 ha of chardonnay and 4 ha of merlot.
