The Rising Sun was the second hotel in Lobethal and although relatively small, has had some remarkably long tenancies in nearly 150 years' trading: it was established in 1856. The hotel featured in a number of scenes in the recent South Australian Film Corporation comedy, "The Honourable Wally Norman".
